Wonderful Wednesday

Good-bye Glasses
Good-bye Glasses

On this Wonderful Wednesday I am getting ready to say, “Good-bye glasses.”  Most people alive today would never have seen me without my glasses, and if you did see me without my glasses I could not see you.  In this case you may have thought I was snubbing you, because I was a stuck up snob.  That was not the case.  I am a little shy, and a little vain, but not a snob.  I ignored you, because I had no idea that vague shape I saw was you.

At my most recent drivers license renewal, I nearly failed my eye exam, but with a little guessing I squeaked my way into getting my renewal.  Be afraid!  While I can see those large things like cars and trucks, those little things like street signs were increasingly becoming a problem.  Thank you to whoever invented the GPS and all the science that led up to its creation.

What’s that I hear?  Why didn’t I get my eyes checked?  I thought of that.  Every time I got my eyes checked, I was told my cataracts were not ripe yet.

My left eye is not bad.  My right eye however is very bad.  I am constantly trying to rub the fog from my eyes.  The lights at night are huge, and I avoid driving then.  Is my right eye so much worse than the left because of that snowball I got hit with when I was 12?  It doesn’t matter, now the right eye will be fixed first, and I look forward to not being so dependent on glasses.

In the future, if I seem to be snubbing you, it is because I am trying to figure out what to write in my next blog, or I have forgotten your name yet again and am to embarrassed to own up to it.  There is so much going on in my head.

  1. Good for you! Yes, I never saw very well and also notice that I often ‘snub’ people because of it but don’t think my eyesight has degenerated much. So are you getting laser surgery? Guess it’s obvious but you didn’t actually come out and say it. Anyway, hope all goes well. Please keep us posted.
